Cystic Hygroma Awareness-Stamp

We finally got our ribbon Last year in october Cystic Hygroma awareness ribbon for People who were born with Cystic Hygroma. No where on DA was there a stamp for my disorder awareness  so I made one. this goes to show how rare it is.  & how little very many people know about it aside from doctors & nurses. if some one mentions epilepsy or autism. alot of people automatically know what it is. but if you mention Hygroma you won't get much
( Acknowledgment)  from others. & it needs to be brought out to others so that they will be aware of it.

 What Is Cystic Hygroma
Cystic hygroma is also known as lymphatic malformation. Nowadays, the medical field prefers to use the term lymphatic malformation because the term cystic hygroma means water tumor. in the latin languege. Lymphatic malformation is more commonly used now because it is a sponge-like collection of abnormal growth that contains clear lymphatic fluid. The fluid collects within the cysts or channels, usually in the soft tissue. Cystic hygromas are filled with lymph which is the fluid that travels in the lymphatic system of the body. Cystic hygromas occur when the lymph vessels that make up the lymphatic system aren't formed properly.
Lymphatic vessels are like blood vessels. The difference is they carry a clear fluid instead of blood.The lymphatic system collects extra fluid from the tissues of the body and carries it back to the veins. If the system is not formed normally, the fluid is slow to travel back to the veins and extra fluid collects in the body. This leads to swollen or enlarged soft tissues and bones. This is called a lymphatic malformation.  

They are most often seen in the neck and armpit,( Mine is on the left side of my head face & neck) but they can be in any part of the body. ( in my case however is very rare.) The changes can be seen just under the skin or deep in the body's tissues. They can stop growing or some will keep growing.  Cystic Hygroma is a Lymphatic disorder my Lymphatic System didn't form properly while my mom was pregnant with me.  its a genetic Birth Defect.

so its like a Tumor that makes Cysts like the one on my chest that came up. & most of them dissolve back into the skin. but if they are cystic they have to be sergically removed.




Those like myself & others are faced with discrimination & ridicule by  children & adults through out our lives. are apperence some what scares people when we are out in public , going to school or even going to wal mart.  this makes our lives ten times harder. then a normal person. s it is hard for us to make friends & get dates. since there are not many people in the world who can see past our birth defects.



We were persecuted & killed  in the middle ages by The Catholic church whom saw us as cursed by the devil.

in the 1800s and early 1900s we were usally sent to asylums

We were a product of the Holocaust  by Hitler & Joseph mengles medical exps back in WW2. which still resighn as some of our treatments today. most people whom have hygroma are unable to have kids because our tretments make us infertile sterle.

even 100s of years later we still face such persecution from people who still think we are things that should die.

 

the majority of us have tracheotomies  & feeding tubes so that we can breathe & eat. due to swelling in our throats some times gets into the mouth area. blocks off air ways & esophagus where food goes in. 


I was the 2nd person in the entire united states to be born with it. the disorder migrated from Europe during the war era & came to America in the 70s. I was born n the 80s. & resighn in the teaching books at Shads Hospital university of Florida. which have helped me alot when i was a kid. . Yes you can die from Cystic Hygroma. as it weakens the immune system  getting a common cold can put me in the Hospital its ten times worse. ive been Hospitalized & nearly died from fatal infections in my face that got into the Hygroma.

Its a malformation of the Lymphtic system which main tains fluid balance & the
immune system of your body
